Edinburgh Hogmanay Part 2

At the last moment, I'm about to walk out of the club and go home to a well earned 10 hours sleep - then I get a second wind!

I try valiantly to hit the dance floor one last time. We go nuts. Thanks to Irn Bru - the stuff that rots the teeth of Scotsman everywhere - the sugar rush is just what I needed.

They sell this stuff EVERYWHERE. In fact a little bit of trivia - apparently Scotland is one of the only countries in the world, where Coca Cola is not the market leading brand of fizzy drink. Irn Bru is made in Scotland for the Scots and they absolutely can't get enough of it. Coca Cola Amatil even tried to buy Irn Bru out once, but failed.

I do wonder though, should I write to them and tell them that some goose forgot to put the 'CE' on the end of the label? Haha 😉

IRN BRUCE I think at this point we are saying something like, 'smokin week we;ve had. Out every night, we backed up every day and made the most of our 5 days in Edinburgh. Good work the pair of us!'.

Either that, or Malfroy is just holding me up so I don't fall into the gutter of the Cowgate.
Last day - we are up and bloody starvin' marvin! While waiting for our lunchtime train, we have lunch at a cafe in the station and buys some souveniers to take home.

This photo was taken at the exact point in time when Malfroy said to me 'you know Brucey, you'll be 30 next year'. As I started to protest, it dawned on me that she was right. It was the 2nd of January, 2009. I would be turning 29 THIS year, and 30 the next.

When you put it like that it makes me sound like an old fart. Thanks Malf. I bloody love you too.

Then, after 5 days on the 'water of life', I have my first glass of 'H2O water' in 5 days. Well Malf, you deserved this after your comment at the cafe.

Our train was massively overcrowded. We missed the first two connections because we didn't have reserved seats (nobody told us we had to!) and then another train was cancelled, leaving a whole bunch of unhappy campers like ups trying to get back to London.

After about 1 1/2 hourse, we decide not to wait any longer and cram ourselves onboard a carriage on the suggestion of the platform guard, who was very helpful but really couldn't do much except get us on board to fend for ourselves.

Malfroy by this stage was VERY tired and highly amused at the fact that for the first 2 hours of the trip, we were forced to sit on our luggage in the 'first class' cabin, blocking absolutely everybody's way and being forced to move from spot to spot depending on where the train attendants needed to wheel their catering trolleys.

Thankfully a nice lady ended up giving us some reserved seats that turned out to be vacant from Yorkshire onwards. So we did get some shut-eye and a comfy ride in the end.

And so ends Edinburgh Hogmanay. What a bloody fantastic week it was! I thoroughly recommend going there if you are ever in Europe around the time of New Years. It was definitely a highlight of my European Adventure so far!

Description: The second part of this album pretty much covers the best street party that was ever held, some sightseeing around Edinburgh on New Year's Day (by myself as I was the only one tough enough to get before lunchtime from the HUGE night before) and then the pub crawl which finally defeated me. Yep - five nights on the 'water of life' and I was knackered...
