Edinburgh Hogmanay Part 2

Ok, so I couldn't resist. A club cap photo for good measure. Had to get something in Edinburgh! When I finally reach the bottom of the hill, after a slight detour down a different path than the one I came up, it turns out that some energetic people have decided it's a great idea to compete in a triathlon.

Gotta admit I admired their passion and dedication. It's the last thing I'd be doing on the 1st January any particular year. They must have started early, and are up to the bike leg now. There is a fair crowd watcing. I get back to the hostel after 5 good hours wandering around Edinburgh and climbing Arthur's Seat. Malfroy has finally stirred and is heading down so we can grab brekkie/lunch (whatever!) and then start drinking again!

She complains of some weird rash she's picked up the night before...

Give me an S, give me a K, give me an A, give me an N, etc...
Back in the dorm room, the Brisvegas boys have got it all sorted. emergency supply pack!

Oh yes, and they will back up today 🙂

I've convinced Malfroy and the lads to head out on the town once again. It's our last night in town, and there is an organised pub crawl we can attend. OK! But before hitting the pub crawl, it's definitely time for pre-pub crawl drinks in the dorm. We start another party (well I do). After drinking about 1/2 a bottle of Famous Grouse, everyone else has decided to get back in on the action too. Never mind my head start, it doesn't take long for them to get rowdy, they are after all not as seasoned a drinker as I am, and are really just topping up from last night still.

Typical of college students, the Eagle Rock comes on over the iPod player, and they can't keep their pants on! Lucky for me, I don't have to drop my underpants for Eagle Rock, as I am not wearing any.

Malfroy tried to get a sneaky shot up the kilt with my camera, but I was on to her tricks and managed to strategically place my sporran so that it weighed down the front of the kilt.

There'll be no peeking for Malfroy! 😉

With whiskey bottle nearing empty, we rally and stumble on down to The three Sisters pub to 'start' the pub crawl.
In no time, we find that the pub crawl is organised by one of the locals, pretty much to cater for the backpacking crowd that visits Edinburgh. We are delighted to find out that for a measly 5 quid, we get a wrist band for guaranteed entry to all of the places we are visiting, which also gives us a variety of discounts everywhere we go.

Most drinks all night - snakebites, beers and spirits - would cost no more than 2 quid each. Awesome! Here is the group of us at one of the second or third places. I can't really remember. But they did serve an awesomely delicious Cubero Jamaican vanilla rum & coke (and cheap too!). I remember last time I had Jamaican rum - Captain Morgan. I vowed never to have it again (thanks James and Jason Powell!) but the Cubero vanilla rum was absolutely divine! Not sure if this is my camer or me starting to play up. Possibly a bit of both.
Once again, the boys dazzle me with their two handed drinking skills. True blue Aussies. The night wears on and the empties rapidly pile up. Malfroy is getting absolutely trollied and I am nearing the end... ... until we get to the Aussie Pub!It's a lot more lively than when we first came here a couple of nights back and straight away we are back to life again.
Then I can't friggin' believe my eyes. Standing before me is Tristan Morrissey from high school. Standing there next to me by pure coincidence, in the Aussie pub in Edinburgh randomly on the other side of the bloody world!

We haven't seen each other for about 10 years and we recognise each other instantly. (I mean how can you NOT recognise Tristan to be honest). Next thinkg you know, we are sucking down Coopers like it's going out of fashion and they all need to be drunk! Yep unbelievable how one of your best mates from computing studies class just randomly turns up in Scotland. And to top it off, he's currently living in London, just like me! So no doubt we will see more of each other soonish. But for now, more Coopers paley. OK now Bourke has raised the stakes again. Four drinks at a time! Go mate!
Malf seems to be getting along well with the Brisvegas boys. We have moved on to the last pub of the night. It's absolutely pumping and chock-a-block with people.

Mind you, after 5 solid days of drinking every night, I am starting to fade fast... .... as this photo proves. I am near the end of my tether.

Ok I lied about not wearing anything under the kilt - at least this night anyway. After going legitimately 'commando' on New Year's Eve, I did get a bit of chaffing on the willy, so had to wear my speedos out the second night. I remember talking to this guys - a legitimate Scotsman, unlike myself. We have a good laugh.

Even Red Bull is failing to help me stay awake however...

Description: The second part of this album pretty much covers the best street party that was ever held, some sightseeing around Edinburgh on New Year's Day (by myself as I was the only one tough enough to get before lunchtime from the HUGE night before) and then the pub crawl which finally defeated me. Yep - five nights on the 'water of life' and I was knackered...
